Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy

R0025098

The building has a long and very interesting History. Built in 1921 the building has been an Immigrant Hotel  in the 40ies  it bacame a prison. Today the Lloyd Hotel is a 1 - 5 Star Hotel and the Cultural Embassy of Amsterdam.

All 117 rooms with a luxury rating from one to five stars - differ in size and interior. The difference in price is linked to the difference in surface area. The interior decoration is a combination of modern Dutch design and timeless classics. The service is the same for everybody: 24 hours room service, free WIFI (glass fibre 30 MBit up and download) and satellite television on all rooms. There is a restaurant, a bar, a library and even a “corner” shop.

I liked the place alot. It's comfortable Hotel, the breakfast is nice, you even get proper coffee, it has a lovely outside garden. Some rooms are rather fancy though. Prices vary from €95 to € 450.
When we stayed there they had a 3 days nonstop tango marathon on - that was really nice. When we came home the restaurant was full of people dancing and all through the night one could hear the sounds of tango in the distance.

I can really recommend the Hotel the only downside is it's  location it' situated in the fashionable heart of Amsterdam’s Eastern Docklands Area - which is nice but there's a tram that takes you the the main-station in only 3 min. But I would have liked to stay more central in the beautiful labyrinth of grachten and small alleys.
